Welcome to 2016!! Ladder work is progressing slower than anticipated, with that being said remember you are now expected to work on ladders at home 2 to 3 nights a week. You can access the weebly website for the ladders by clicking the button labeled "8th grade Math Page" to the right! As always email me with any questions!!
What's Happening in Math Class? There might be a buzz beginning to hum about the new look of math class! I've fielded many questions this week about if this is how math is going to look all year and the short answer is, yes.
With the newly implemented proficiency ladders in the classroom I have discovered in my classroom I have students working on, at times, 6 different topics. The only way to manage this in the classroom is to have 6 different activities going on at one time. What this means for the weebly website is I cannot post what was done in a class period for when students are absent because students are in a variety of different places. However, this does mean students should be aware of what they can do at home because they are progressing at their own pace. I have created another weebly website strictly for our proficiency ladders that has activities, videos, and information for all proficiency ladders. The link for that is on the right hand side of this page. This weebly will still have math information, with frequent blog posts about changes and how this new look is going, as well as notes assignments and assessments (although due dates will vary because students will not assess until they have mastered the skill). Parents, if you have any questions about proficiency ladders ask your student!! They're learning along side me!! |
